Chunghsu Hsu, MSW, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She is also an Asian/Pacific-Islander Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist and Geriatric Mental Health Specialist.
Education and Experience: Chunghsu graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, with a master’s degree in social work.
Languages: English, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.
Background: Chunghsu, originally from Taiwan, came to the United States in 1995 to pursue graduate school education. She earned her masters’ degree and moved to Seattle in 1998. Prior to joining ACRS Therapy Associates in the summer of 2015, Chunghsu worked as a mental health counselor and clinical case manager with the Behavioral Health Program at ACRS for 18 years. She has worked extensively with people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, acculturation difficulties, parenting issues, relationship problems, phase of life issues, and other challenges. Chunghsu is a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist.
Philosophy: During her 22 years of clinical practice in the counseling field, Chunghsu has truly appreciated the precious privilege of working with individuals, couples and families on the challenges they encounter in their life journeys. When working with her clients, she has endeavored to provide a safe, supportive space for them to express their feelings and thoughts. She uses a strengths-based approach to explore and exercise her clients’ internal and external resources, to empower them with skills to cope with the challenges they face, and to enrich their lives by facilitating growth and transformation. She is dedicated to providing therapy to her clients with compassion, commitment and cultural competency.
